Lawsuit claims Avenal landfill is releasing toxic gases, sickening residents

AVENAL, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Dozens of Avenal residents filed suit on Friday, “for the ongoing environmental disaster at the Avenal Regional Landfill,” which they say has been releasing noxious gases around the entire city and making living conditions “unbearable.”

The suit filed against the landfill’s owners, Waste Connections and Madera Disposal Systems, alleges that noxious odors and toxic gases have caused residents headaches, nosebleeds, respiratory issues, and heart problems.
